Congratulations on your upcoming marriage! Let us be the first to present you a wedding gift in this Honeymoon Timetable. This guide will help you plan, schedule, and execute your honeymoon dreams so your experience is as perfect as your honeymoon paradise will be.
9 – 12 months ahead
- Sit down together to discuss your desired honeymoon style, dream locations, and wished-for-activities.
- Assess available funds for your honeymoon.
- Contact Away From It All Vacations to establish a honeymoon registry (if applicable).
- Decide on a realistic honeymoon budget.
- Begin researching various destinations via the Internet, travel magazines, and your travel agent.
- Meet with the Away From It All Vacations agent to receive information on desired honeymoon destinations.
- Make travel reservations:
- Airline reservations.
- Cruise or Resort/Hotel reservations.
- Reservation for transport to and from hotel, or inquire about free shuttle availability.
- Rental Car reservation.
- Look into places with free weddings when you book your honeymoon, or a free honeymoon when you book your wedding.
6 months ahead
- Begin researching passport and visa requirements.
- Send for copies of your birth certificates and other documentations needed for passport and visa applications.
- Apply for passports, visas, or other documents.
- Contact a tourism agency in your chosen destination for updates on special events, discount perk packages, and additional information.
- Begin studying a foreign language or customs for your destination.
2 to 3 months ahead

- Check with your doctor about immunizations required for your trip, and make appointments to get your shots and tests.
- Assess your luggage situation, and purchase needed luggage and carry-on.
- Create a packing list and start shopping for honeymoon outfits and other items on your packing list.
- Make arrangements for house sitters, pet sitters, relatives, or friends to watch your children.
- Make final payments on honeymoon.
1 month ahead
- Reserve shore excursions or tours, special dinners, etc.
- Confirm travel arrangements/receive travel documents.
- Continue shopping for needed travel wardrobe, and lifestyle items.
2 weeks ahead
- Buy traveler checks.
- Exchange an amount of cash for foreign currency.
- Begin any beauty or pampering treatments for the trip.
The Final week

- Ask a trusted neighbor to take in any package deliveries, watch your house, care for your lawn, etc.
- Submit post office “hold mail” form.
- Arrange to have email at work and home to be postponed and set up an “out of office” auto-reply.
- Arrange for newspaper delivery to be put on hold.
- Confirm childcare and pet boarding arrangements.
- Collect clothing and other items to pack.
- Begin packing process.
- Shop for toiletries and travel gear.
- Pack carry-on bags.
- Confirm flights and hotel arrangements.
- Check the travel warning sites to be sure your location is in good standing.
- Check weather reports for your location.
- Leave itinerary with family members.
- Leave house key with trusted neighbor.
- Leave contact information with boss or colleague, just in case.
- Discuss contingency plans at work (e.g. who will handle your caseload) while you are gone.
- Charge cell phones and other tech toys.
- Have prescriptions filled and packed in carry-on.
- Pack all of the children’s gear if they will be staying with relatives or friends.
- Pack for the children who will be accompanying you on your trip.
- Set light timers in and around your house.
- Set house thermostat on auto program.
- Discard trash in house, and arrange for a neighbor to take out your trash barrels on the next collection date.
- Correctly label your luggage with your contact information. Include a card with your hotel location and phone number inside each piece of luggage, in case your things get lost.
- Write down credit card numbers and credit company phone numbers on an index card, and place it inside your suitcase incase you need to cancel your credit cards if they are lost/stolen.
- Confirm ride home from the airport after your return, and give your driver your flight/rail information.
- Go for beauty appointments.
The Day before the Wedding
- Double-check all packed items.
- Lay out any snacks or bottled water you will pack in your carry-on.
- Get some cash to have on hand for expenses, tips, etc.
- Be sure your wallet contains all needed IDs, checkbooks, etc.
- Be sure airline tickets and confirmations, passports, visas, and other must haves are packed in the carry-on and ready to go.
- Make arrangements to have your luggage brought to your wedding night hotel suite or other appropriate location.
- Confirm your ride to the airport or travel center for the wedding night or next morning.
